Find your footing in Kalah Mancala
Read the aim of Kalah Mancala, then make your first move. When either row of six pits is empty, remaining seeds go to their owner’s store. The larger store wins. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Check the rule that explains your first action. Use the example below to understand a decision.
Try a more deliberate round
Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention. Refer to the controls when needed.
The challenge in front of you
When either row of six pits is empty, remaining seeds go to their owner’s store. The larger store wins. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. Follow this game’s rules rather than another version’s.
Start here and follow along
- Player 1 uses the bottom six pits; Player 2 uses the top six.
- Choose a non-empty pit on your side and sow its seeds one at a time.
- Include your own store but skip the opponent’s store. Ending in your store grants another turn.
- Ending in an empty pit on your own side captures that seed and the opposite seeds, when the opposite pit is non-empty.
Choosing and moving on screen
Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. A new-round button replaces the current round.
An example before you play
If your last seed reaches your store, you move again. If your row becomes empty, both stores are settled immediately. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Read the matching step again.
Keep this in mind
The stores are scoring areas, not pits you can choose. These are Kalah rules, not every Mancala variant. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal.
